Today I’ll be talking about some of my favorite foundations. I don’t really wear foundation on a daily basis but I love face makeup. All 5 of these are from the drugstore.
From left to right:
-Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation | Shade : Chestnut
This one is actually in the wrong shade, I should’ve gotten caramel, but I got Chestnut instead and it has a pink / red undertone, but I have a yellow undertone, which is what caramel has. I’ve used it a couple of times though and I love the consistency and application of it. I have to go back and get my shade but I kept this one anyway to add to my kit. Whenever I get the wrong shade of a foundation I always keep it in case I ever do someone else’s makeup and it’s their shade.
L’Oreal True Match Foundation | Shade : N7 Classic Tan
This one is a bit too light for me now, but it used to be a perfect match for me when I got it, so I don’t know. I love this foundation though, it has a medium buildable coverage, and if you add the True Match Powder on top (which I love) then you get a full coverage, that powder is more of a powder foundation. The packaging is cute, though it gets messy easily. I love the shade variety this foundation has, it’s separated in different undertones;
C stands for Cool – If you have Red Undertones, if your veins look blue and if you look good in silver and in the color purple.
W stands for Warm, if you have yellow undertones, if your veins look green, and if you look good in gold and in the color orange.
N stands for Neutral, it’s a mix between the two. I pick the Neutral shade instead of the Warm shade because the Warm might be too yellow on me, making it look light.
There are 8 shades in each category, I don’t know if there is an N8 or W8 though, because I’ve never seen them at my drugstore. Although, I have the concealer sticks and it says N6-7-8 and W6-7-8 on there so I’m assuming that that shade exists.
I want to try the Lumi Foundation too, has anyone tried it? Thoughts?
Revlon Colorstay | Shade: Caramel
Everyone and their mother loves this foundation, and I can see why. It’s a full coverage foundation for a drugstore price. It has a wide variety of shades and comes in formulas for Normal/Dry skin and Oily/Combination skin. I have the one in Oily/Combo skin because m skin is normal/combo, not really dry.This foundation has a thick consistency. You have to work in small sections and quickly because it dries fast. It also stains the tool your using, so keep that in mind. This shade has a yellow undertone which is perfect. I would highly suggest applying this with a sponge because it’ll give it a more natural finish. When I first got it, I used a foundation brush and it left me looking like my face was painted on. A sponge or buffing brush would give it a more natural finish. It’s long lasting just like it states on the bottle.
ELF Flawless Finish Foundation | Shade: Coco
This foundation is a recent purchase for me. I’m actually wearing it today, and I’ve been really liking it. I think it has a medium coverage and it’s buildable. If you have really oily skin then you should probably powder after applying it. I haven’t been wearing it for long enough to give a full review, but I’ll do one in the future. It’s a highly affordable foundation though, it’s only $6, it does have alittle less then regular foundation bottles have, but the packaging is still beautiful.
Maybelline FIT Me Foundation | Shade: 350
This foundation is the first one I got when I really started doing makeup and collecting it. It’s a good foundation, it’s a good shade for me. It has a bit of a dewy-ish finish so I have to set it, especially on my nose. I do love this foundation though. I really want to try the matte one they just came out with. It’s also a good price. Unfortunately though, right after I took a picture of these as I was carrying them back inside the Fit Me bottle fell and broke and splattered foundation everywhere. I had a spare of those air pump bottles so I put the rest of it in there, but I lost a lot of it, so I’ll have to repurchase it when I go to buy the other one.
Anyways, those are some of my favorites, if you have any recommendations that you think I should try based on those picks or just one that you really like then please leave them below, I always want to try new stuff.
